Curriculum

Our curriculum focuses on mastery, not just memorization of academic content while allowing students to progress at a pace that is unique to the child. We call that differentiated learning. Using specialized diagnostic testing tools, we provide age and academic function-specific curriculum components, individualized to meet the unique needs of each student’s developmental stage. What’s more, under the watchful eye of qualified teaching staff, each student can work at an independent pace, successfully moving through subject material as quickly or unhurriedly as they need. Although our curriculum was developed with the mainstream student in mind, we have found that students with unique abilities thrive on the model as well. In part, because pressure to perform is stripped away with differentiated learning and, at Destiny, we purposefully create an atmosphere that promotes learning.

Your student’s individualized education program will be supervised by qualified teachers who has one or more of the following:

  • Certification in utilized curriculum

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher

  • Three or more years of K-12th grade teaching experience

  • Specialized skills, knowledge or expertise otherwise qualifying them to provide instruction in K-12 grade subject matter.

Our goal is to facilitate your child’s optimal development both academically and spiritually, giving them the tools necessary to become a productive contributor to the world in which they live. We strive to impart strong Christian ethics and character that, “when they are older”, children will not depart from. That’s why we say at Destiny Achievement Center “we are training in this generation the leaders of the next”.

Students with stronger academic proficiency may progress at a faster rate or may accelerate in the areas of their academic strengths. Students who are more academically challenged are encouraged and supported to do their best, working at their own level of proficiency and proceeding at a more manageable pace as they continue to advance. Each core subject consists of 12 PACEs (Packet of Accelerated Christian Education) per level. (Consider a PACE equivalent to a “unit Chapter” of a standard Textbook.) Typically, students work daily on one PACE in each subject and may be performing at varying levels. To establish their “Academic Level of Functioning”, diagnostic tests of academic proficiency is administered when a child first enrolls in school. The results of these tests assist in creating an educational experience tailored specifically for your child, at their academic level in each of the Core subjects. This approach to individualized learning builds the student’s confidence, not just of a subject, but of learning altogether.
