The Art of Argument

This class will focus on the greatest experiment of all time, the American Experiment. Students will gain an understanding of the U.S. Constitution, Bill of Rights, three branches of government, law making process, election process, and the meaning of American Exceptionalism. They will learn about the Judeo-Christian principles upon which our country was founded. Students will gain an understanding of local, state, and federal government and the importance of their participation in fulfilling their civic duties. Students will engage in group projects, class discussions, case law and its affect on our republic, and mock elections and debates.

​Middle and high school students will argue (and sometimes quarrel), but they won’t argue well without good training. Students who complete The Art of Argument will learn how to reason with clarity, relevance, and purpose . . . and will have fun along the way! Informal logic is a foundational subject by which other subjects are evaluated, assessed, and learned. Therefore, students' study and mastery of the 28 logical fallacies will provide an essential lifetime framework for filtering good and bad reasoning as well as writing and speaking effectively.

Team Sports & Group Games
Students will develop fundamental skills through a variety of sports and activities. They'll engage in fun-filled games and exercises that focus on building hand-eye coordination, strength, and teamwork. From learning the basics of flag football and soccer to enjoying games like kickball, capture the flag, and ultimate Frisbee, students will have a blast while honing their physical abilities. Throughout the activities, emphasis will be placed on working together as a team, where students will learn to support and encourage each other through positive words and actions.

This program covers essential survival skills, focusing on wilderness survival techniques such as map navigation and emergency preparedness. Participants will learn to build shelters, identify local flora, and master map reading. They'll also explore how to locate water sources, start fires, and prepare for hurricanes and other natural disasters. Activities include geocaching, orienteering, camping, and basic survival training.

​Creating Art is a curriculum designed build an understanding of general color theory and basic art techniques, as well as a beginning knowledge of early art history, providing a foundation for future art studies. Seven lessons and a total of fourteen projects are included, along with a section of quizzes. This curriculum will take appropriately 30-45 minutes in a classroom setting with 10-15 students, but can be modified for individual use. Easy-to-use, activities include a list of materials needed as well as step-by-step instructions. "Terms to know" are also included throughout to help children build an artistic vocabulary.
